Water Skiing Regulations and Hours

A motorboat pulling any device with a person on it is considered skiing. A person engaged in skiing or similar activity should wear an approved PFD. When an operator is towing a person on water skis or similar device, there must be a competent person observing the activity of the person being towed and relaying information to the operator. Operators should follow a counter-clockwise pattern and should operate in a careful manner at a safe distance from other persons or property. It is unlawful to operate a motorboat towing persons engaged in water skiing or similar activity within 100 feet of any swimmer, diver, pier, raft, occupied anchored boat, PWC, skier or other ski boat, except where pick up and drop off areas are established and marked with regulatory markers. No person who is skiing or engaged in similar activity may get within 100 feet or allow the tow rope to get within 100 feet of any person, boat, pier or raft.
